During this month, Rotman Institute of Philosophy graduate student, Emma Ryman, is giving two talks. The first talk, given last week at Brock University, was at the symposium, Consuming Intimacies: Bodies, Labour, Care, and Social Justice. She presented a paper entitled, “The Patient Worker: A Model for Transnational Human Subjects Research and Contract Pregnancy”, along with co-author, Dr. Katy Fulfer (a Western Philosophy alumna). In the photo above, taken at the conference, Emma is in the center. Katy Fulfer is on the left, and fellow Western Philosophy alumna, Angel Petropanagos (who also presented at the conference) is on the right.
This weekend, on October 24th, she’ll be giving a talk titled, “Fiduciary Duties in Commercial Surrogacy” at the Feminist Approaches to Bioethics (FAB) affinity group meeting at the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities (ASBH) annual meeting in Houston, Texas.
