Among philosophers of science, Stathis Psillos needs no introduction. And with multiple trips to the Institute, no other visiting fellow has had a greater impact on us. Since 2016, Psillos has visited the Institute on an annual or semi-annual basis. Each time he returns, he immerses himself fully in the life of the Institute–enriching the work of faculty members and trainees, alike. He holds regular office hours, and generously offers his feedback and thoughtful guidance to Institute members. His return visits to the Institute have not only benefited the research conducted by our members–his affability and warmth also enrich the social life of the Institute. Faculty, postdocs, grad students & staff all look forward to the chance to join Stathis for a cup of coffee or a trip to the Grad Club on campus.

As a visiting fellow, Stathis Psillos has delivered public lectures at the London Public Library, colloquium talks on campus, and talks at Institute hosted conferences. He has participated in a Rotman Dialogue, and is a regular attendee of Institute reading groups. Among Institute graduate students, his annual three-week, intensive seminar on scientific realism is eagerly anticipated and quickly fills up each year.
