YUSHENG XIA
Doctoral Student;
Department of Philosophy, Western University
Yusheng Xia is a third-year Ph.D. student in the philosophy department at Western University after he received his Master’s degrees in Philosophy and Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science at the University at Buffalo, U.S.A., and Shenzhen University, China. His research is in meta-metaphysics. He is also interested in the metaphysics of virtual reality (big gamer!) and social and political philosophy. Let’s hope he will not play too many games and graduate before the funding runs out!
My research is in meta-metaphysics and has two foci right now. First, I am trying to find a middle ground between ontological realism, on which we have the best way to read reality from languages, and ontological (carnapian) deflationism, on which the ontology entirely depends on the chosen linguistic framework. Second, I am trying to defend metaphysics in the face of science.
