Doctoral Student;
Department of Philosophy, Western University
I am a first-year PhD student in philosophy at Western University. I completed an HBSc in psychology, an HBA in philosophy, and an MA in philosophy at Wilfrid Laurier University, and most recently, an MA in philosophy at the University of Waterloo. My research focuses on biotechnology including bioenhancement and genetic testing, as well as artificial intelligence (human-machine relationships, metaphysics of AI consciousness, and the nature of trust in AI output). I am also interested in feminist, sociopolitical/legal, and environment/climate philosophy. My particular interests are in questions of autonomy, privacy, and ownership pertaining to the social integration of different technologies.
Other areas of interest that I have incorporated into my research include: parasocial relationships and how they manifest in human-machine relationships, neuroscientific developments of artificial brains, as well as how quantum interpretations can qualify aspects of personhood.
