Title: Why the Epistemic Effects of Oppression Must Matter in Feminist Theory
Abstract: For decades feminist theorists have carefully investigated aspects of oppression that affect people as knowers. But why does the effect of oppression on women as knowers matter so much? The answer is not simply that the epistemic effects of oppression are unjust or harmful to those who suffer from them. Instead I argue that the epistemic effects of oppression must matter to feminists because they undermine the feminist project itself.
