Matching Funds

The institute is pleased to offer matching funds to institute faculty members who are seeking to leverage funding from other sources thereby amplifying or expanding interdisciplinarity and impact potential in areas aligned with the strategic research priorities of the institute.

Application Process

Projects at any stage of development are welcome to apply. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Submissions will be periodically reviewed by members of the institute’s Executive Committee. Each application will be evaluated based on its alignment with the institute’s research priorities, feasibility, and impact potential. Applicants are encouraged to submit proposals well in advance of concurrent grant deadlines to allow for sufficient time for review. 

NOTE: The institute’s capacity to provide matching funds is impacted by fiscal restraints. While the institute strives to support as many high-quality projects as possible, the availability of institute support may be limited.

Proposal Requirements

  • Project Title
  • Project Description (maximum 1 page)
    • Lay Overview Statement Outline the research topic, target audience, and proposed project activities.
      Project Team List the team members, their role, and expertise.
      Strategic Alignment Explain how the project will contibute to Rotman's research priorities.
      Potential Impact Describe the potential impact of your research project.
  • Proposed Budget (maximum 1 page)
    • Budget Table Include a breakdown the expenses that will be covered by the requested funds.
      Justification Provide a description and justification of the funds being sought and how they complement the funds being matched.
